Anthony Discusses Coventry City Council’s Selective Licensing Proposal with Coventry PIN Meeting

This week saw the return of the Coventry Property Investors Network (PIN) meeting, following a summer break in August. The event saw updates on selective licensing in Coventry, experienced property investors sharing their journeys and numerous opportunities to network with like-minded investors.

The meeting was kicked off with the regular five-minute slots, providing an update on the mortgage and lettings market. The mortgage market update came from Midlands based Nick Hope, of Hope Financial Services. Homemaker Properties’, Anthony McMullan, followed with an update on Coventry’s lettings market.

Selective Licensing Proposal

Anthony discussed Coventry City Council’s proposed plans to implement selective licensing across a large part of the St Michael’s Ward. This would mean that private landlords renting out properties within the selected area, would need to apply and pay for a license. The proposed selective licensing scheme is currently going through a consultation period, with the Council looking to implement from the beginning of January 2017.

Our slides providing information on the selective licensing are available on our website, under our downloads section. Alternatively, you can request a copy of slides by e-mailing Alison McMullan, Marketing Manager at Homemaker Properties – alison@homemakerproperties.com

Raj Beri and Gary and Jo Henly were the main speakers for the evening. The theme from both speakers was surrounding leaving the corporate world, and replacing that income with Buy-to-Let investments.

Coventry PIN is held on the second Tuesday of every month, except December and August. Each meeting is hosted by Sebastien Buhour, a property investor with over 25 investment properties across multiple countries. Sebastien attending the Simon Zutshi’s Matermind programme in 2014, being nominated as one of the Top 5 performers on the programme he was on. Keen to give back and help others achieve, Sebastien took over hosting Coventry PIN meeting in May 2015, from Saj Hussain.

The Homemaker team will return for the next PIN meeting, which will be held on Tuesday 11 October 2016.
