Kevin Shares the Impending Changes to Energy Performance Certificates with Coventry Property Investors Network

At the March Property Investors Network meeting, Kevin McMullan informed attendees of the impending changes affecting Energy Performance Certificate.

The information shared was sourced from the National Landlord Association and the Government website. From April 2016, Landlords will not be able to unreasonably refuse consent to a tenant’s request for energy efficiency improvements. Financial support is available through the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation, Landlords do not necessarily have to foot the bill for the improvements and only have to make improvements that are cost effective.

There are also changes effective from April 2018, which will mean that Landlords will need to ensure their properties reach at least an E EPC rating, before granting a new tenancy.

Thank you to everyone that attended the PIN meeting and also those that took the time to come and speak to the team. It’s great to be a part of so many property journeys.
